PISM with the Community: Shared Sustenance, Mutual Brotherhood
The Sultan Mahmud Islamic Center of UMT organized the PISM Program with the Community on 27 and 28 July 2025 located at the UMT Mosque square. This inaugural program successfully attracted hundreds of visitors from UMT members and the community around Kuala Nerus.
Over the two days, various interesting activities were organised covering social, educational, health and environmental sustainability aspects, including the Rahmah Madani Sale, Free Market, Trash To Cash, Al-Fatihah Clinic, English Teachers To The Rescue, eye health checks and reflexology massages. Products from UMT research were also promoted, alongside the “Bring Your Own Bag, Love the Earth” campaign which emphasized a low-carbon lifestyle.
Head of the Sultan Mahmud Islamic Centre, Dr Kasyfullah bin Abd Kadir said this programme aims to cultivate the spirit of giving, build a network of love between institutions and communities, and create a society that cares about the environment.
The program received support from the UMT Student Cooperative (KOSISWA), Kuala Nerus Senior Citizens Activity Center (PAWE), Sustainable Management Center (PPL), Faculty of Fisheries & Food Science (FPSM) and Faculty of Marine Science & Environment (FSSM). Also present to enliven the event was UMT Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ir. Ts. Dr Zamri bin Ibrahim.
