Appreciating the Natural Heritage on Redang Island

Pulau Redang, 6 October 2025 – A delegation of Directors of Islamic Centers of Malaysian Institutions of Higher Education (IPT) who attended a meeting at the Sultan Mahmud Islamic Center (PISM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) continued the Marine Survival and Heritage Appreciation Program activities at Chagar Hutang, Pulau Redang.

This program aims to provide participants with exposure to the maritime treasures and sustainability of the marine environment of Terengganu, as well as appreciating the role of humans as caliphs in preserving the creation of Allah SWT.

Throughout the program, participants had the opportunity to explore the beauty of the waters of Pulau Redang, participate in water activities based on safety and marine survival, and witness the process of hatching baby turtles at the Chagar Hutang conservation site. Participants also had the opportunity to collect newly hatched baby turtles from under the sand and collect them as part of the conservation activities conducted by the UMT Turtle Conservation Project team of researchers and volunteers.

This activity not only strengthens the brotherhood and spirit of togetherness between the directors of Islamic centers in Malaysian higher education institutions, but also provides an opportunity to appreciate the values ​​of trust, responsibility and love for the environment as part of a comprehensive Islamic da’wah and tarbiah approach.

PISM UMT as the co-organizer expresses its appreciation to all delegation members and the management of the UMT Turtle Conservation Project for their cooperation in making this program a great success.
