UMT slaughters 10 sacrificial cows in conjunction with the celebration of the UMT Mosque’s Decade

In conjunction with the decade of the establishment of the UMT Mosque, UMT through the Sultan Mahmud Islamic Centre in collaboration with Maybank Islamic Berhad and RHB Islamic Berhad will slaughter 10 cows at the Korban Perdana program to be held on 9 June 2025 at the UMT Mosque compound. The First Sacrifice Program has been held every year since 2015, but the difference this year is that for the first time the number of sacrificial cows will be 10, in conjunction with the decade of the establishment of the UMT Mosque.

A total of 50 Asnaf Crew members who are student volunteers together with UMT and community members will work together to slaughter, skin and distribute the sacrificial meat to the surrounding community.

According to the Head of the Sultan Mahmud Islamic Centre (PISM) UMT, Dr Kasyfullah bin Abd Kadir, the sacrificial meat will be distributed to more than 300 families from three (3) qaryahs around the UMT Mosque, namely Kampung Kubang Badak, Kampung Pak Tuyu and Kampung Tanjung Gelam.

According to him, this program not only strengthens the spirit of sacrifice among campus residents, but also demonstrates the role of the mosque in contributing to the well-being of the community.

“This sacrificial service reflects the spirit of togetherness and social concern of the mosque as an institution of mercy. In conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the UMT Mosque, we are committed to continuing to support the community and expand benefits through programs like this,” he said.

The UMT Mosque, which began operating in 2015, will continue to be committed to supporting the spiritual development, welfare and education agenda of the community through various initiatives involving synergy between the university and the community.

As a sign of gratitude, the sacrificial meat will also be cooked and the Sultan Mahmud Islamic Centre welcomes the public to enjoy the special food of the Aidiladha feast at the UMT Mosque starting after Zuhur on the same day.

UMT also expresses its gratitude to Maybank Islamic Berhad and RHB Islamic Berhad for their contributions and cooperation. Hopefully this collaboration will continue to be strengthened over time.
