Kuala Nerus, 12 October 2025 – Sultan Mahmud Islamic Centre (PISM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) continues to lead innovation in Islamic education by organizing the Training of Trainers (TOT) Program for Al-Quran Teachers with a Science and Technology Approach.
This program aims to empower Quran teachers with the skills to integrate science and technology elements in teaching to make it more interesting, effective and in line with the needs of today’s digital generation.
According to Dr. Kasyfullah bin Abd Kadir, Head of the Sultan Mahmud Islamic Centre, this science and technology-based approach can make teaching the Quran more interactive and relevant to the modern world without neglecting authentic Islamic values.
A total of 64 Quran teachers from all over Terengganu have participated in this TOT program which will be conducted in eight (8) training series. This program is conducted by Dr. Mohd Faiz Mohd Yasin, PISM UMT Research Fellow, using exclusive training modules that he developed himself.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr. Kasyfullah bin Abd Kadir, while Mr. Ahmad Zaidi bin Mustaffa, Chairman of the Terengganu State Sahabat Al-Quran Association, was also present to provide support.
Through this program, PISM aims to form a community of professional, innovative and digitally literate Quran educators who can serve as a reference for the community and Islamic educational institutions at the state and national levels.
The organization of this TOT also emphasizes PISM UMT’s commitment to driving Quranic education based on knowledge, values and technology, in line with the challenges of the 21st century.
