Sumud Flotilla Global Mission Safety Prayer Night

Kuala Nerus, 2 October 2025 – More than 1,000 Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) students, including new students for the 2025/2026 session, flooded the UMT Mosque to attend the First Prayer Night organised by the Sultan Mahmud Islamic Centre (PISM).

This program was held as a sign of gratitude and a prayer of peace in conjunction with the registration of new students, in addition to asking for blessings and strength to begin the study session with full commitment. The ceremony began with the recitation of Doa Munajat and Solat Hajat so that campus residents are given peace, spaciousness and ease in seeking knowledge.

A special prayer was also offered for the safety of the Sumud Flotilla Global Mission, as a symbol of the solidarity of UMT citizens towards the universal humanitarian struggle. This element reflects the spirit of global concern that is applied among students.

The ceremony also featured Ustaz Najmuddin Ulwan, Islamic Affairs Officer of the Terengganu State Sports Council, who delivered a special Maghrib Lecture and left a spiritual and motivational message for all attendees.

According to Dr. Kasyfullah bin Abdul Kadir, Head of the Sultan Mahmud Islamic Centre, this organisation is not just about welcoming new students, but also inviting them to make the mosque a centre of knowledge and spiritual guidance throughout campus life.

An introductory session on PISM and the UMT Mosque was also held, including the role of six (6) student wings under the auspices of PISM which play a role in empowering the development of the personality and identity of UMT students.
